The romance of HGTV star Jonathan Scott and former New Girl actress Zooey Deschanel may have caught their fans by surprise a little over a year ago, but the duo appears to still be going strong. While the past year has, more than likely, thrown some curve balls their way, the Property Brothers renovation expert and Deschanel just celebrated one of her favorite holidays in a very sweet (and nerdy) way which seems perfect for Valentine's Day.
Zooey Deschanel has made it known just how much she loves Valentine's Day, despite it being the bane of many people's existence, and it looks like her sunny disposition with regards to the day which celebrates all things lovey dovey is something that she and boyfriend Jonathan Scott share. The twosome had a quiet evening to celebrate the holiday, and Deschanel shared a brief glimpse of the sweet event, which may just make believers out of those of us who'd rather pretend Valentine's Day doesn't exist. Awwww! This, at first glance, appears to be a pretty standard Valentine's dinner in these times (or, just for folks who abhorred the idea of fighting dinner rush crowds in the before times). We've got the table set with a lovely tablecloth, a nice arrangement of flowers, a big ol' ombré heart balloon, and I even believe I spy a bowl of roasted brussels sprouts, just so we're all aware that Jonathan Scott and Zooey Deschanel made sure to get their vitamins.
But, if you look closely at that stemless wineglass in the foreground as Scott pours Deschanel a bit of white wine, you will see that he did, in fact, provide his lady love with a Darth Vader ice cube.
Now, while I'm sure some of you will bemoan the fact that Deschanel uses ice cubes with her wine at all, I'm going to say that the much bigger deal is that we now know Jonathan Scott is cooler than we thought, because the man did, at some point, buy equipment which allows him to make Darth Vader ice cubes. As you can see in the short video, Deschanel is also surprised by this, so was this was a new purchase which he felt would really make their Valentine's dinner special? Either way, if you don't think this is one of the best ways to celebrate love, sorry; we can't be friends any more.
Infamous Star Wars villain aside, it seems clear that both Zooey Deschanel and Jonathan Scott have pretty good senses of humor. My favorite part of the video is how Deschanel giggles after Scott confirms with a sly smile, "It's Darth Vader. Happy Valentine's Day." This is exactly the kind of behavior I'd expect from a couple who met while doing a "two sets of siblings" episode of James Corden's Carpool Karaoke in September of 2019. Maybe this Valentine happiness will mean that we'll be able to see more of them together on TV on Property Brothers or one of the Scott siblings' other home renovation shows in the near future.
